Job Description

Seeking an experienced Plumbing Estimator for direct hire, long-term role with a Commercial Mechanical contractor in Charlotte, NC.
Pay: $80k to $100k depending on experience or let us know what you desire.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7 am-3:30 pm
Responsibilities for Plumbing Estimator:
  • Read drawings and put together a bid with scope letter
  • Communication with owners, GC’s, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Make future relationships with GC’s and Owners
  • Run bid meetings, keep bid schedules for all trades, select project to bid.
  • Keep track of the global markets, copper, aluminum, silver, gold
  • Keep track of tariffs, global and local
  • Communicate with PM’s concern labor and material, feedback for further bids
  • Turn over estimated project to the PM’s with as much detail as possible
  • Read and understand specification, order insurance certificates, and bid bonds
  • Estimate a quick budget, knowledge of the market
Qualifications for Plumbing Estimator:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7+ years of commercial plumbing estimating experience.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, labor productivity, and installation methods for commercial projects.
  • Computer estimating program FastEst/Fast pipe (not required but would help on hiring)
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs using estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and mechanical/plumbing plans.
  • Understanding of construction costs including labor, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and material procurement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for cost modeling and bid tracking.
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, or large-scale plumbing projects preferred.
